Policies

Payment: Class fees will remain the same for all months during the year, classes are equaled out throughout the year. Acceptable methods of payment are cash or cheque (made out to The Finnegan School of Irish Dance). Payments are due on the 1st or the 15th of the month, if paying by cheque ten post dated cheques are due upon registration. If paying by cash, please put the cash in an envelope with your child’s name, class day and time written on the front.

Class Times: Please try to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. This allows time for dancers to prepare for class and for class to begin at the scheduled time.
*Stretching is included in the Pre-school, beginner & advanced beginner classes*
* Novice+ classes please arrive early to put on shoes and stretch;
 DANCING BEGINS AT THE SCHEDULED TIME!!

What to wear: Please show up to class in loose and comfortable clothing, preferably a skirt or shorts. In winter months it is quite acceptable to wear ‘leggings’, especially for warm-up activities. Please no jeans or cords as these restrict movement.
White socks are to be worn to all classes. If you are interested in purchasing a pair of white bubble socks (approx $10) please speak to me and I can pick them up for you when I am at a local feis. All competitive dancers and dancers in their second year of lessons must wear soft shoes. First year dancers may wear a ballet slipper unless they are planning to compete. Also, for your comfort please have hair tied back during instruction.

Food and Drink: NO FOOD AT ALL IS PERMITTED IN CLASS. There are no scheduled classes that are long enough to require a snack – this is an allergy alert, please be considerate. Please ensure your dancer arrives with bottled water or juice – no pop is permitted. All water bottles are to be left with bags and not brought into the dance area; dancers will be given the opportunity to go get a drink.

Parent Observation: In order to ensure an optimal environment for instruction and the children’s attention there will be no parent observation during class times. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Sometimes we may be asked to provide dancers to perform at private functions.  Parents will normally be welcome to watch these ‘dance outs’, unless otherwise specified by those hiring the dancers. Our school will always keep you well informed about these invitations and give you as much advance notice as possible.

The Finnegan School of Irish Dance is registered with "An Coimisiun le Rinci
Gaelacha" in Dublin, Ireland and with the Irish Dance Teachers Associations
of North America and Eastern Canada.
